FAQ
You’ll know you have one of our new recyclable bags if you see a How2Recycle label on the front, bottom right corner of the bag.
How2Recycle is a standardized labeling system in North America that takes the guesswork out of recycling by including easy-to-understand disposal information with each label. By displaying these labels it means that our packaging meets the strict specifications required to be recycled and helps us all reduce our landfill waste.
Our new recyclable bags have resin code #4.
Our existing bags are made from a multi-layer PET plastic, which includes a plastic foil lining making the bags non-recyclable. We wanted to do better, so we've switched things up! Our new recyclable packaging’s white, single-layer LDPE plastic that's not only friendlier to our planet but also easily recyclable through your local community recycling programs.
Absolutely not! We've put our new recyclable bags through rigorous testing to make sure they live up to the same high quality standards as our previous bags.
Our new recyclable bags look a bit different because we've moved from metallic to matte printing, and there's a good reason for it. We're always looking for ways to be kinder to our planet, and by switching to matte printing, we're reducing our impact on soil and ecosystems. It's a small change that’s a part of our bigger sustainability commitment!
We get it, sometimes it feels like a drop in the ocean, wondering if our recycling efforts really make a difference. Here's some good news: recycling is a lot easier and more common than it used to be. The vast majority of Canadian families, and well over 95% of U.S. households, have easy options for recycling, whether it's right at the curb, a nearby store, or a local depot.
Even if some bags do end up in places we wish they wouldn't, our recyclable bags are still much better for our planet. They use 31% less water and 23% fewer resources to produce.
Our sustainability efforts are always aiming to cut down our carbon footprint and minimize our environmental impact. As we work to achieve our 2025 goal, the most sustainable way for us to transition to recyclable packaging is to use up the bags we already have in stock. We believe in not wasting what's already been made. So, as we run out of our current supplies for each recipe, that's when we'll make the switch to the new recyclable packaging for that recipe. And any new recipes we introduce will be packed in the new recyclable bags right from the start.
